PROFESSIONAL PROFILE

D avid Nana Ofori, Jr., A.A.S., B.Sc., MSc, PhD. is hailed as a transformative leader for his pioneering work in healthcare and infrastructure, designed to uplift impoverished communities and the people who reside in them in the United States.

These distinctions include the Physician of the Year award as published in The New York Times, Businessman of the Year, and several others from the United States Congress and New York State Senates for his outstanding service and community support. Throughout his career, spanning two decades, he has served in multitudinous leadership roles as the corporate president, CEO, board chair, and administrator.

From Managing Director of multi-specialty Physician Practices to Chief Administrator and Executive Director of non-profit organizations to private corporations, he has served on numerous Boards and consistently makes decisions that have improved services, increased profits, and added value to the companies of which he serves. Under his direction, these corporations continually realize significant cost savings, profitability, time savings, and the production of higher-quality services and products. He has been renowned for his corporate turn-around successes in medical centers, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and home care industries in the United States.

In one instance, Dr. Ofori was the Executive Director of a multi-specialty medical corporation. He created an outpatient rehabilitation service division consisting of Physical and Occupational Therapists and Speech-Language Pathologists. As part of his innovative interventions, he leased minibusses that were used for mobile medical services.

These professionals were transported to public schools, hospitals, clinics, private homes, and nursing homes to deliver medical restorative rehabilitation services to children and adults with developmental disabilities, people who had no immediate way of accessing specialized medical services, and people who are vulnerable and at risk of cardiovascular and neurological diseases.

In addition to helping disadvantaged, disabled citizens with social-economic disparities, Dr. Ofori helped generate over $1.5 million in yearly net profit for the practice. Moreover, new, and old physician groups throughout the New York Metropolitan area have now adopted his business model. He is known for his ability to turn struggling home healthcare care, medical practices, and hospital businesses into profitable ventures.

Dr. Ofori spent a decade coaching and training managers, executive officers, and rehabilitation therapists, and creating workforce development programs in communities in the New York Metropolitan region that have accorded him congressional recognition and awards.

He is the recipient of the “Man of Distinction Award” by the National Association of Negro Business Professionals, the “ Businessman of the Year-2005 Award” by the National Republican Congressional Committee (Washington, DC, 2003), the “1996 Sports Medicine Clinician Award”, Physician Of the Year Award-2003 (NRCC), a certificate of Leadership Development from the United States Army War College, the Community Leadership Award by the Borough President of Brooklyn (2009), and other awards, including congressional and New York State Senate recognitions and citations.
